PE
(Phycoerythrin), a large protein (approx. 240 kDa), one of the most commonly-used fluorescent dyes for FACS analysis. PE is photosynthetic pigment found in red algae and contains more than 25 fluors. Typically, only one PE molecule is conjugated to an antibody and the direct PE conjugates are relatively easy to make. PE is one the brightest dyes used today, its fluorescent maximum is approximately 575 nm.
